Fulcrum Equity Partners

In March 2024, Fulcrum Equity Partners closed its fifth fund at $372 million — above its original $300 million target, above its $350 million hard cap (which the firm raised to accommodate LP demand), and in a fundraising environment that had made most of its peers reduce their ambitions rather than expand them. The oversubscription was not a market anomaly. It was the accumulated consequence of eighteen years of a single, consistent investment strategy, applied with the discipline of a firm that knows what it is good at and has no interest in being convinced otherwise.
Fulcrum was founded in Atlanta in 2006 by Frank Dalton, Tom Greer, and Jeff Muir — three partners who shared a conviction that the lower-to-mid market for B2B software and healthcare services companies was systematically underserved by growth equity investors who were either too large to write the check sizes these companies needed, or too undifferentiated to offer anything beyond capital. The firm's response was to build deep sector expertise in two specific verticals — B2B technology, with particular concentration in SaaS platforms with $2 to $15 million in annual recurring revenue, and healthcare services, focused on businesses with $1 to $5 million in EBITDA — and to develop, over nearly two decades, the pattern recognition and operator network required to add genuine value alongside the capital.
The portfolio reflects the outcome of that discipline: more than 130 investments and 48 exits including companies like QASymphony, SaaSOptics (now Maxio), Stax, Kobiton, Florence Healthcare, and Digital Hands — businesses that in most cases began as sub-scale software companies competing in markets their investors initially had to explain to their LPs, and that grew, with Fulcrum's partnership, into platforms capable of attracting strategic buyers and growth-stage institutional capital. Fund IV closed at $275 million in 2021. Fund V at $372 million in 2024. The trajectory tells its own story.
